MEDIA NETWORK FOR A SMOKE-FREE ONTARIO

PURPOSE

Support the development of the overall tobacco control strategy through enhancing media coverage of tobacco control and related issues;
Build on and enhance existing relationships of tobacco control partners with the news media at the provincial and local levels;
Provide timely and credible information on tobacco control and related issues to our members;
Promote the awareness of the health consequences of tobacco use, factors that contribute to addiction to nicotine, effective interventions to tobacco control, government and partner leadership to reduce the leading preventable cause of death in Ontario.
Serve all individuals and organizations active in Tobacco-Control, Cancer Control and Public Health, in Ontario.

By Joining the MEDIA NETWORK FOR A SMOKE-FREE ONTARIO, an individual will receive regular updates on current events, policy and legislative developments, and support materials. Members will be invited to participate, at their discretion, in specific media oriented campaigns, workshops, seminars, and teleconferences. Members will also have full access to our website.

In return members of the MEDIA NETWORK FOR A SMOKE-FREE ONTARIO are expected to inform us of their relations with the local media, and of tobacco control and related events in their community. We also ask that members complete and return media contacts feedback forms, share experiences, and accept to be included in our distribution database.

The MEDIA NETWORK FOR A SMOKE-FREE ONTARIO reserves the right to refuse membership to applicants, exclude or suspend access to the Network without notice in the event that you use the Network for unlawful or improper purpose.
