The Media Network for a Smoke-Free Ontario is a unique program that provides public relations expertise and knowledge exchange to tobacco control practitioners in Ontario. The Media Network began operation in February 2000, and currently has more than 800 members within the province who work or volunteer in tobacco control, as well as several members from other parts of Canada.

The Media Network supports its members in garnering earned media coverage. The media is the most powerful resource available to reach mass audiences and accomplish public policy change. Earned media provides the ability to deliver our messages to the public in a cost effective way without the negative response sometimes associated with advertising.

Media Network staff provide a number of core services to the membership including media knowledge exchange, media and public relations training and customized media consultation.
